Have you heard about it? You say no? Well hasten here to Felicia's blog to read about it. I present my first reply to her challenge of making 2 thank you cards.....
Card #1, inside and out:
And slightly different card #2:
Ok...that one is really not different. Just different papers. So I made this one:
And then this one....again, same layout, different colors:
I considered the challenge to use stamping. Well I stamped the sentiment only, and used a die (stamp set and die from Verve) and pattern paper (Crate Paper- Acorn Ave the first 2 and Cosmo Cricket for the second 2) for the rest of the cards. Now let me say I felt I had technically met the challenge, but not really the spirit of it. And in a usual week, I would call it good and done. But this was the first challenge, so I kept on and came up with this card:
It seemed more in keeping with the spirit of the challenge. I stamped the ledger background (Hero Arts) on regular SU white paper, then inked the stamp (Hero Arts) with a variety of Stampin' Up markers, spritzed them with some water mixed with Perfect Pearls, and stamped over top the ledger pattern.
That turned out kind of cool, and it lead me to try another technique on card style #4:
I smooshed some distress ink pads in reds and pinks on a teflon craft sheet, spritzed it with the same pearly water, inked up the same stamp, and put it on watercolor paper. I thought it needed something more on the outside, so I heat embossed the sentiment in black embossing powder...and sincerely wished I had NOT. I think I ruined the card. But hey, one of the points of the challenge is to play around and learn new things. I considered not showing this card, but decided in the interest of keeping it real to go ahead and show it.
So...I hope you enjoy seeing our challenges and responses, and will even join in as often as you wish. Leave a comment on either of our blogs so we can come visit and admire! Felicia posted her BEAUTIFUL cards today. Go have a look.
Speaking of keeping it real....next post will be my post-Christmas craft room and the clean up of same. Thanks for coming by today....see you again soon.
