I had so much fun making this and just had to post it, even though I almost didn't.  You know how sometimes people post something they made and say they saw it on a blog somewhere but can't remember where?   That really bugs me.  Credit needs to be given where it is due.  So any guesses what I'm about to say here?  Yeah, I copied some photos from a blog and printed them and took them downstairs to my craft room, where they laid around for a while.  Usually when I do that,I also print out the web address of the site, so I can refer back to it if, and when, I ever make the project.  This project was from a blog that is not on my regular list, and had instructions in cm instead of inches.  And I don't have a clue how I even stumbled upon it.  So if anyone has seen something similar out there, PLEASE let me know and I will give proper credit.

I used the phots to figure out how to make this picnic basket, as I really liked the structure of it.  (Converting cm to inches was WAY too much trouble...I just went with my own measurements!)  I made a basic box bottom, added the center support, then the lid.   If anyone wants the measurements I used, please e-mail me and I will be glad to provide them.  Here are a few shots of the box in progress:

 I used Grapic 45 (Domestic Goddess) paper that I purchased last week when I was in Bozeman. and a lot of different flowers.    The brads holding on the handle and tags are those that look like phillips head screws.  Love that!

Artistic Journey tag...

I will be attending an event in October called Artistic Journey, at a scrapbook store in Texas. There will be 3 classes taught by 3 of the Maya Road design team.  They have a facebook group set up, and there was a challenge (with the deadline of tonight!) to post a tag representing your artistic journey. I had forgotten about it until today, so I had to  hurry and get mine made tonight after dinner.  I focused on sewing, since that is something I've done for a long time, thanks to Mom and 4-H.  Here is the tag:

 

I used Maya Road sewing chipboard pieces, a piece of a vintage (real)  pattern instruction sheet, miscellaneous trims and pearls, and some crinkly seam binding I made by coloring it with  reinker ink and Maya Road mists.  You scrunch it up to let it dry and the wrinkles and scrunchy-ness stays in - it's rather cool and fun to do.    This was a quickly put together project, and I don't mind admitting to being intimidated about  posting it to a place where Maya Road design team members are also posting.   And yeah, I am pretty excited about going to this event!!!

I was tired of copy cards and  felt the need to make something out of my own head.  Although I would readily admit that everything I do I've probably seen something similar, somewhere, sometime.  With that said, I took a old heart Valentine candy box (that I actually paid money for at a garage sale, if you can believe that) and turned it into a shadow/memory box.

I covered the box inside and out, front and back, with scrapbook paper and then took two photos and trimmed them to fit the way I wanted them to be positioned.  Finally, I went to town with red, pink and white doo-dads to decorate it all up.  What do you think?

Well, it's off to shovel snow for the third time today (easier in small doses than once when it is much deeper).  I made lasagne for dinner, and that's almost ready.  Then it's movie watching - I hope the ones I selected today at Movie Gallery are as funny as the covers say they are.

Oh yes, I got a new vacuum today.  I don't know why I am sharing this with you, but I was sickly fascinated.  Let me just say that I have AMPLE proof that the old one was not doing a very good job....

Oh yes, one other little tidbit of news.   You all have suffered along with me at my not very good photos.  Yesterday I ordered a $33 (free shipping) light cube from Ebay.  It is 16x16, so it should be just fine for cards, small projects, and scrapbook pages.   I am anxious to get it, and surely do hope it makes a visible improvement in photo quality here on the bloggie-doo.  Happy Saturday to you.  Love,me.

Let's begin the 4th of July fun....

 

 

I made this  cute little picnic basket for Mom and Dad from a template purchased here.   The candy wrappers are stamps, purchased here.  The are stamped onto your basic office supply white address labels and wrapped around Hershey Nuggets and bit size candies.  

They stamp up really quick and easy, and it only took about 10 minutes to stamp 2 full sheets of labels (60 total).  Jim has been in my craft room to talk to me and discovered them and has been snitching.  I think I will have to make more, and get more candy, as I want to put some in the basket I make for my desk at work.
