Scrappin' Sanity........

Another weekend bites the dust....

And I accomplished the things I needed to.  Scrap or quilting time...not so much.  But the house is clean, the refrigerator is stocked, meals are planned and the car is clean inside and out.  Oldest daugher also moved back in today, so that was a bit of commotion and to-do.   For how long, who knows.  But it will be kind of nice to have her around for a while.  Kaitlyn and I are wrapping up the weekend by watching Tangled.

Here is a card I made a week or so ago....

 

Next week  is the busiest week of the year at work, so I don't know how much I will post.  I do have lots of photos taken and ready to go if I muster the gumption in the evening. Hope this upcoming week is good for you.

One Christmas card, three ways...

When I saw this stamp set and this sample card:

I knew I had found the set I would use this year for my cards.  Last weekend I had a chance to work on my Christmas cards, and started out pretty much making the sample card:

 

I think this card is simple yet so very elegant.  I used SU (very vanilla cardstock), gold embossing powder, Websters Pages lace, and a Prima flower center.  Each flower it stamped and embossed in 2 sizes, cut out, and layered with some pop dots one on top of the other.   Then I tried it in another color way:

 
This time I stamped directly on some patterned paper.  I put it on a cream CS piece, and off set it a little onto a kraft CS base.  The flower center is a scattering of pink pearls.  Then I tried it one more way:

 

The red and pink paper are some I've had forever.  I believe they came from one of those gianormous mat stack things from Michaels.  Anyway, they are not a solid color, but are a very suble tone on tone pattern.  This red one I layered onto a goldish/tannish glittery piece of CS I had in my Christmas stash of papers left over from last year. I think it might be My Minds Eye, but am not sure.  I used another Prime center.

Which one do you like best?  I kind of like them all!  As winter is moving into our area with a vengence, I will be happily staying home this weekend and working on more ways to use this elegant set and come up with my own creations.   Thanks for coming by...see you tomorrow!

Three more cards...

all from the same inspiration card as yesterday.  Hey, when you are on a roll, you gotta go with the flow, right?

Card #1:

 

I used the same paper line again on all of these.   In addition, on this one I used a Tim Holtz ticket stamp, a border punch, some rub ons, a SU corduroy button, some twine, and flowers from my supply.

Card #2:

 

On this on I also used a SU border punch, a tag made from a Papertrey Ink die, and BasicGrey felt Woolies (the basket).

Card #3:

 

The extras on this one are a BG Woolie (the leaf), some gathered ribbon from my supplies, a memo stamp from Maya Road, and word stamp from Close to My Heart.

Cards, music, and blog candy...

I was on a roll last night with my copy cards....here is another one, also showing the inside:

This card is on kraft cardstock from SU, plus some BasicGrey Woolies (the apple and flower), some really old label-looking word stickers, some large felt rick rack from Hobby Lobby (last year), and twine.  The tag I cut from cardstock and stamped the ledger lines with a large Hero Arts background stamp.  I also stitched the patterned paper to the card background.

So today was a great day in the craft room, and I was able to get my January assignment done.  What assignment you ask?  Well, I have the great pleasure and honor to be a designer for a new company called Scrapkit Studio.   I can't say much more yet, but look for some exciting updates and news coming soon!

And since I know you are all just SO anxious to know, yes it was music day in the craft room.  It started out with Meat Loaf- Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.  Yeah...pretty awesome stuff.  Then I moved on to Journey, the Escape Tour Live in Houston.  Featuring Steve Perry prancing around in his skin tight straight leg jeans, yellow leopard print t-shirt topped with a tuxedo jacket and Nike Swoosh tennies, singing his guts out with every vein in his neck looking like they were going to blow at any minute.  Good stuff!  Then things took a folksy turn to Simon and Garfunkel - Live in Central Park, followed by Five for Fighting, and finishing up with John Denver - the Wildlife Concert.  Which pretty much exhaused my supply of concert DVD's.  And just in case you think I sit there quietly crafting and soaking up the music...oh nay nay my friends.  When the house is empty, the volume goes WAY up and I sing!  I rock out!  Loudly.  Sometimes I even have to get up and move a little.  And, of course, at some point Kaitlyn came home from work and caught me at it.  It's happened before, so the embarrasment is over.  She just smiled a little (probably gagging on the inside and giving thanks that she hadn't brought any friends home with her) and waited for me to hit the pause button so she could talk to me.

Fascinating info, huh??  Oh, I know....you are still here waiting on the blog candy.  Well, how about this:

 

As you can see, a brand new set of label dies and 4 bottles of Martha Stewart glitter...fine and chunky, red and silver - just in time for Christmast cards and tags.  Keep those move suggestions coming, please, to be entered, and I will draw a name next weekend.  See you tomrrow with more fall cards.
