I made this ensemble for a co-worker who recently purchased a new home.  The white bag is just a white paper sack that I decorated to hold a package of Dunkin' Donuts coffee.  The tool tote directions came from here.  I buy a lot of template patterns and directions, but I must say this is one of my all time favorites.  It is super easy to make and is of a substantial size.  I have two good sized kitchen towels in there, tied up with some rick rack.

Mother's Day, part two....

That describes my Mom perfectly.  This beautiful woman is my Mom:

 

Until I was in the 8th grade, girls could not wear pants to school.  My Mom made ALL my school clothes until that time.  She also made all my formals for high school dances.  All except one.  The special-ness of that one store bought dress was short lived, once I got to the car with my date and discovered the other girl in the car (we were double dating) had on the exact same dress.  Mom was and still is a fabulous cook.  She was making tacos, eggs foo yung, stir fry, and pizza well before they were common fast food meals.  My friends who all were from meat-and-potato/farm-and-ranch families were fascinated with our meals and loved to eat at our house.  She knew nutrition, balanced meals and portion control.  After school snacks were a piece of fruit and no more than 2 (homemade, of course) cookies.   She can look in a refrigerator and find 1 shriveled up carrot, a left-over hunk of roast beef, and 2 sprouted potatos and turn it into a fabulous gormet meal.  She has been the most amazing Grandma to my 2 girls.  I could go on and on.  I have been blessed with a wonderful mother!

Now on the the crafty stuff!  I made this little box with drawers to hold a gift certificate:

These are what I was so busy cranking out at the Sisters crop last Saturday night.  I brought them home and added more bling and Cricut'ed the initials of the recipients.  There is one for Martha, Kaitlyn, Brenda, Felicia, Kelle, Mom, and me.  Kelsey took hers before I got a picture taken.  Here is a close up of Kaitlyn's:

 

Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers out there...present and future mothers!  And congratulations to all the women today who participated in the Montana Women's Run. It's a great cause and a great show of the power and companionship of women. 

How to make a box, likety split!

First, you take a piece of the new Stampin Up Sweet Slumber Specialty paper. This is some nice stuff!  Run it through your Big Shot using the Box #2 Die. 

The tabs on the bottom interlock together beautifully.  I probably would recommend adhesive, but I didn't use any on this box.  I just put some on the tab you see on the right.

  Done, in all its blurry glory.  Well, not quite.

I decided a window was called for, so out came the large oval punch.  I added a piece of acetate to the inside of the box.  On the scrap piece of paper I punched out another large oval, then centered the wide oval  around it and punched to make a frame.  Added some ribbon for a handle, secured with red brads, and DONE!  I'm going to have a lot of fun with this....I can see purses, animal cracker boxes, little holiday goodie boxes, and more. 

Just for the record, it holds 12 Hershey's Nuggets perfectly, and it went on hubby's pillow as a thank you for the face massages and making dinner last night (ok, he went and got pizza, but it still counts) when I was feeling yucky with my cold/flu whatever.  He won't get the cuteness of the box, but he will get the appreciation behind the candy.
