Here is the trash....
Here is the treasure....
Wait. What? How can that be? Here you go:
step 1:
Make a cover. I traced a coffee sleeve, then made
it about 1/2 bigger all around. I cut it out of card stock, glued it
to a piece of cardboard (from a fruit snack box) and inked the edges.
Step 2: Traced the sleeves again on coordinated
card stock and glued them to the backs of the
sleeves, as I had decided that I didn't want to
cover both sides of the sleeve. I wanted the logo and
store information to show.
Step 3: Use strong sticky tape to glue the bottom of the sleeve closed, making a pocket.
Step 4: Punch a hole in the top left corner of the sleeves and covers. After you punch the first one, use it as a placement pattern for all the rest.
Step 4: Make a pattern for the pocket inserts. I folded a piece of scrap paper to get the width measurement, they laid a sleeve on it and used it to trace the top edge, giving the same curve to the l top. I had originally thought I would make them rather tall, and showing over the top of the cover, but decided I didn't like that and cut them down shorter.
Step 5: Go wild. Decorate the pocket pages cover to your liking.
I also made extra page inserts and sleeve covers so I can add to this as I go. Why did I make this? Well, it seems that a lot of good times involve coffee. We meet friends at a coffee shop to visit. We stop at a kiosk to get coffee to go before heading out to an event. We go to a coffee shop with music after a nice dinner to sit and relax and talk. So why not document some of those times, using souvenirs from the coffee shops. And yes, those are coffee beans glued to the front of the cover!
I want state that this is NOT my original idea. There are lots of these little books around in blog land and in magazines. This is just my version and interpretation. Thanks for looking! Next post - presto chango with an item from Goodwill.
