As promised a while ago, here are pics of my scrap room. I call it my happy place. The kids called it Mom's room. Jim calls it my store.
This was originally a room, if you could call it that, in the basement. The walls had panelling glued to the cement walls. One of the walls was badly planned, as it ended about 6" short, where it came upon the furnace in the room behind it. Jim built the long counters on each side of the room, all the shelves, and the big island in the middle. I am constantly re-organizing and just recently purchased these inexpensive book shelves (on sale, or course) at Shopko. There are perfect, as they are not deep. Jim built some extra shelves for them, so I could customize even further. The shelves in between the two on this side make for even more storge.
These are the shelves on the opposite side of the room.
That cord mess will be fixed when he has a chance to drill a hole in the side of the shelf to pull the cords through. I have a love affair with old metal and wooden boxes. I can't help myself when I find them at garage sales and Grannies Attic. They have so much history (even if I don't know what it is!) and character. You can barely see it in this picture, but there is a shiny silver metal box in the far left that has a lock on it. The lady at the garage sale told me it was used to transport gem stones from South America. I don't know if they owned a jewelry store or what. But who would've known! I think stuff like that is interesting. The old tackle box and the 4-drawer metal drawers came from an estate sale last summer. They were immaculate, and I imagine someone's Grandpa puttering in his shop and carefully storing his supplies. I hope whoever he is might be glad that I am enjoying them, even if they are not used for the same purpose he did.
I store my paper in these vertical paper holders. I have some stored by brand (Close to my Heart, Stamping Up, Basic Grey, etc) and some for kits, and some by color. Most of my punches are on the wall on curtain rods.
My ink pads are stored in an old cassette tape holder -another garage sale treasure.
I also really like these drawer units, from Lowes. They store chipboard alphas.
For a final shot, here is a set up for a good evening, after a day at work and dinner. A cup of tea, some new Netflicks TV shows to watch, and a new project to start on.
Thanks for looking around. We scrappers are always looking for ways to better organize our supplies, so I hope maybe I helped with some ideas. I would be happy to answer any questions!
